The 2010 World Series of Poker, the most important poker event in the world, will be aired as of tonight at 8 p.m. ET on sport channel ESPN. The first episode, which will last two hours, will bring the $50,000 Players Championship, a poker tournament that attracted 116 poker players from all over the world and featured a prize pool of $5.6 million, with $1.5 million for the winner.

In 2010, the $50,000 Players Championship presented a mixed format with eight games. The popular H.O.R.S.E., which includes Texas Hold’em, Omaha eight or better, Razz, Seven-card stud and Seven card stud eight or better, format was adopted and other three variants were added: pot-limit Omaha, Deuce to seven lowball and No-limit Texas Hold’em.

Great poker players like John Juanda, Daniel Alaei, David Oppenheim, David Baker, Mikael Thuritz and Vladimir Shchemelev were in the final table of the poker tournament. Brothers Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi and Robert Mizrachi were also in the final table, adding a little bit of good sibling rivalry.

From now to 9 November, when we’ll see the final table of the WSOP Main Event, every Tuesday will be poker night in ESPN. This new poker season will see Lon McEachern and Norman Chad coming back to call the action and every episode will run for two hours, giving poker fans plenty of action to enjoy.
