The 2011 Aussie Millions $100,000 Challenge poker tournament held at the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia, has a new winner: English poker player Sam Trickett. Early in the tournament Trickett took the chip lead, reaching a stack of 961,000 by the end of day one. Although his stack fell to 400,000 after Tony Bloom doubled up through him, he managed to recover and win.

Famous players like Erik Seidel, David Beyamine and Jeffrey Lisandro were out of the game while Trickett climbed back to the top and built his stack back. The heads-up saw him facing Tony Bloom and winning a total $1,525,000 in this prestigious poker event to increase his career earnings to $3 million, which includes free poker tournaments.

Meanwhile, the main event of the 2011 Aussie Millions kicked off on Sunday with a rock band, confetti and Joe Hachem. Erick Lindgren ended the day as chip leader with 186,000, followed by renowned poker players like Patrick Antonius in third place, Phil Ivey in seventh place and Erik Cajelais in ninth position.

The Main Event started at the Crown Casino with a field of 238 players and many of them did not make it to the second day, including Maria Ho, Eli Elezra, Mike Matusow and Erica Schoenberg. The poker tournament will resume on Wednesday.
